Abstract
Potreba za odgovarajućim gospodarenjem otpada nastala je urbanizacijom i povećanjem ljudske populacije. Svakodnevno ljudska vrsta proizvodi sve veće količine, sve složenijeg i sve opasnijeg otpada. Na našoj planeti postoji velik broj različitih vrsta, ali otpad proizvodi samo jedna - čovjek. U ovom radu razrađen je način provođenja gospodarenja komunalnim otpadom u Europskoj Uniji i Republici Hrvatskoj, koji je ekološki najprihvatljiviji način gospodarenja komunalnim otpadom i otpadom općenito, koja su načela kojih se trebamo pridržavati kako bismo odgovorno gospodarili otpadom i koje načine obrade otpada koristimo u obradi komunalnog otpada. Kao primjer Europske politike gospodarenja komunalnim otpadom obrađen je Njemački sustav koji svake godine sve više napreduje i primjer je kako se ispravno gospodari komunalnim otpadom. Eko otok Krk obrađen je kao primjer ekološki zasnovanog sustava gospodarenja komunalnim otpadom nazvanim od vrata do vrata u koji je uključena cjelokupna populacija otoka. Takav sustav zadovoljava stroge europske ciljeve o recikliranju otpada. Ne samo da je uveden ekološki zasnovan sustav prikupljanja otpada, nego otok Krk ima projekt postajanja energetsko samoodrživog otoka. Osim korištenja sunčeve energije i energije vjetra, energija se proizvodi pomoću biootpada i otpadnih voda. To omogućava financijske uštede, smanjene energetske troškove, profit prodajom energije i stvaranje novih radnih mjesta.
Abstract (english)
The need for proper waste management arose with urbanization and with the growth of the human population. Everyday the human race produces larger quantities, of more complex and dangerous waste. On our planet exists a large number of different species, but waste is generated only by one of them human. In this final thesis it is explained how municipal waste is managed in the European Union and in the Republic of Croatia, what is the most ecologically acceptable municipal waste management and waste in general, what are the principles we need to follow to responsibly manage waste and what methods we use in waste processing. The German municipal waste management system is an example of the European municipal waste management politic, and is an example of how to properly manage waste. Eko island of Krk is an example of ecologically acceptable municipal waste management called door to door that includes the islands whole population. This type of system satisfies strict European waste recycling goals. Not only that the island is using an ecologically based municipal waste management system, the island has an energetically self-sustaining project. In addition to using solar and wind power, energy is being produced by using bio waste and waste waters. It allows financial savings, lower energy costs, profit by selling energy and creates job opportunities.
