Insurance is an economic institute of social and economic life that protects an individual, business entity and economic development from the economically damaging consequences of natural forces and unlucky cases. The purpose and purpose of the protection is realized by means of pre-funded assets used to compensate for material and immaterial losses. Insurance distribution means the activity of proposing insurance contracts, consulting them or carrying out other preparatory actions for the conclusion of insurance contracts, or concluding such contracts, or providing assistance in managing such contracts and their execution, particularly in the case of solving claims, including providing information on one or more insurance contracts in accordance with the criteria chosen by consumers through an Internet site or another medium and the compilation of a list of insurance products, including price and product comparison or discount on the price of the insurance contract if the consumer can directly or indirectly conclude a contract about insurance on an internet site or other media. The Insurance Distribution Directive entered into force on February 23, 2016, and it regulates rules for the establishment and performance of insurance and reinsurance operations in the European Union. In Croatia, through the new Insurance Act, the Insurance Distribution Directive is implemented, which makes significant changes in the insurance sector. The one-year adjustment deadline and completion of the education quota will be counted towards the date of obtaining the first license, and strictly started to follow the law scheduled for February 23, 2019.
