Abstract
Od kada postoji život na Zemlji voda se koristila i zagađivala biljnim, životinjskim i ljudskim otpadima. U početku to nije predstavljalo problem jer se organski otpad razgrađivao pomoću zraka, odnosno Zemlja je bila sposobna sama pročistiti male količine vode. Dnevno umre preko 4000 ljudi diljem svijeta zbog zagađene vode, a mnogi stručnjaci upozoravaju da će tijekom sljedećih desetljeća potreba za vodom postati neizdrživa. Razvojem zajednice, porastom broja stanovnika te njihovom koncentracijom u velike gradove, otpadne vode su se znatno povećale. Otpadne vode zagađuju mora, jezera i podzemne vode čime je ugrožen i opstanak života na Zemlji. One također pospješuju razvoj mikroorganizama koji troše kisik što vodi do uginuća riba te razvoja patogenih mikroba. Tekstilna industrija stvara otpadne vode u proizvodnom procesu i takve vode treba pročistiti prije ispuštanja u vodotok.
Abstract (english)
Since there is life on Earth, water has been used and polluted by plant, animal and human waste. Over 4,000 people around the world daily dye due to polluted water, and many experts are warning that over the next decades water demand will become unbearable. With community development, human population is growing so the amount of produced wastewaters has increased considerably. Such toxic wastewaters are dangerous for sea, lakes and groundwater, endangering the survival of life on Earth. They also promote the development of oxygen-consuming microorganisms that lead to fish death and the development of pathogenic microbes. The textile industry creates waste water in the production process and such water needs to be cleaned prior to discharge into the watercourse.
