Abstract
Cilj istraživanja bila je procjena dobi i izmjera morfoloških osobina šljuke bene (Scolopax rusticola L.) s područja Dalmatinske zagore. U radu su obrađena 52 uzorka šljuke bene prikupljena tijekom dvije lovne godine. Svakoj šljuki je neposredno nakon odstrjela određen spol i dob prema obrascu obojanosti perja. Mjereni su sljedeći čimbenici: masa, dužina kljuna, dužina glave s kljunom, širina glave iznad oka, širina glave ispod oka, dužina repa i raspon krila. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju nam značajne razlike između spolova u dužini kljuna. Primjećena je očita razlika spolnih organa kod mužjaka i ženke. Uspješno smo indentificirali juvenilnu i adultnu jedinku na temelju obojenosti perja i istrošenost samih vrhova perja. Pregledom sljedećih čimbenika: dužina kljuna, masa i širina tamne linije kraj oka možemo relativno uspješno determinirati spol jedinke.
Abstract (english)
The aim of research was to estimate the age and measure morphological characteristics of woodcock (Scolopax rusticola L.) in the area called Dalmatinska zagora. A total of 50 samples were collected during the two hunting years. Sex and weight was determined for each specimen immediately after killing according to color of feathers. We measured factors such as weight, length of the beak, length of the head with its beak, width of the head above the eyes, width of the head below the eye, length of tail and wingspan. Results of the research show us differences between the sexes in the length of the beak. There is an obvious difference of sex organs in males and females. We successfully have identified juveniles and adults individuals based on color of feathers and tips of feathers. After review of parameters such as length of the beak, weight and width of dark line of eye we can relatively successfully determine the sex for each specimen.
