Abstract
Otpad je svaka tvar ili predmet koji posjednik odbacuje, namjerava ili mora odbaciti. Nastaje kao rezultat raznih ljudskih aktivnosti. Otpad stvara problem održivom razvoju, jer se kroz otpad bacaju i troše resursi, a može predstavljati direktnu i indirektnu opasnost za čovjeka i okoliš. Stoga Ministarstvo zaštite okoliša i energetike, donosi zakon o otpadu i druge pravne akte koji reguliraju postupanje s otpadom. Osnovni dokument za klasifikaciju otpada je katalog otpada. Medicinski otpad definira se kao sav otpad koji se generira pri pružanju zdravstvenih usluga i možemo ga pronaći pod br.18 u katalogu. Medicinski otpad većinom spada pod opasni otpad i predstavlja veliku kemijsku i biološku opasnost, i može značajno ugroziti zdravlje populacije. Postupanje podrazumijeva zaštitnu opremu za osobe koje dolaze u kontakt s njim i njegovo razvrstavanje na mjestu nastanka, skupljanje, vođenje očevidnika i prijavljivanje nadležnim institucijama, skladištenje, predobrađivanje i obrađivanje, prijevoz i odlaganje. Medicinski otpad se obrađuje obavezno na jedan od dva načina : direktno spaljivanje, ili sterilizacija i usitnjavanje nakon čega otpad postaje neopasan te se može odlagati ili spaljivati zajedno s komunalnim otpadom.
Abstract (english)
Waste is any substance or object which the holder discards, intends or is required to discard. It is result of various human activities. Waste creates problem to sustainable development, because the waste thrown consume resources and can pose a direct and indirect hazard to man and the environment. Therefore, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, issue waste law and other lega lacts regulating waste management. The basic document for the classification of waste is waste catalog. Medical waste is defined as all waste generated in the delivery of health services and we can find under No.18 in catalog. Medical waste mainly fall under the hazardous waste category and is a major chemical and biological risk, and can significantly endanger health of the population. Management of medical waste involves protective equipment for III people who come in contact with classification at source, collection, keeping records and reporting to relevant institutions, storage, pretreatment and processing, transport and disposal. Medical waste is processed compulsory by two means: direct incineration, or shredding and sterilization after which it becomes non-hazardous waste and can be disposed of or incinerated along with municipal waste
