Abstract
Buduća putovanja izvan Zemlje su nezamisliva bez zaštite šatlova i astronauta. Zemljino magnetsko polje pruža dovoljnu zaštitu u nižoj orbiti, ali jednom kad se izađe izvan dometa polja, astronauti su pod velikim utjecajem zračenja. Zračenje u svemiru dolazi sa Sunca (Solarne kozmičke zrake) i izvan našeg sustava i galaksije (Galaktičke kozmičke zrake). Ubrzane čestice velike energije, brzine i naboja prijete penetracijom tkiva i razaranja DNK. Utjecaj jakog zračenja je isti kao i na Zemlji i dolazi do formacije tumora, a pri jačim dozama i do sigurne smrti. Zaštitni materijali i njihove legure se konstantno proučavaju zbog poboljšanja njihovih svojstava za zaštitu. Potrebno je odabrati materijal sa najmanje sekundarnog zračenja i najpouzdanijom atomskom strukturom. Moguća rješenja se nalaze i u različitim oblicima aktivne zaštite kao npr. magnetski ili elektrostatski štit.
Abstract (english)
Future space travel outside Earth`s magnetic field is impossible without the protection of shuttle and astronauts. Earth`s magnetic field gives sufficient protection in low orbit but once outside of its boundaries, astronauts are directly affected by radiation. Radiation in space comes from the Sun (Solar cosmic rays) and outside of our system and galaxy (Galactic cosmic rays). Particles of high speed, energy and charge penetrate the tissue and destroy DNA. High radiation effects are the same as the ones on Earth and tumors are forming, death is certain with high doses. Protective materials and their alloys are constantly under research to give them better abilities for protection. It is necessary to choose the material who emittes low secondary radiation and has the most reliable atomic structure. Possible solutions are even found in different active protections for example magnetic or electrostatic shield.
