Although soldering seems to be a simple procedure, it still needs to be given extreme attention, because just one bad solder joint can jeopardize the function of the entire assembly. In order to obtain good connection points by soldering, we need suitable soldering iron, high quality solder and proper soldering procedure. With the development of industry conventional soldering irons are slowly disappearing from the industry due to the smaller dimensions of the components that require a certain temperature of the soldering iron. This is why digital soldering stations are becoming increasingly popular because we can control the temperature of soldering iron and the quality of soldering joint itself. Unfortunately, digital soldering stations such as Weller, Ersa, JCB are not affordable for hobby use, so consumers turn to cheap Chinese variants, which are poor quality. This is exactly why many consumers decide to make their own soldering stations. The paper presents the creation of a prototype of a digital soldering station controlled by a microcontroller, and the design and analysis of the circuit parts was carried out with appropriate software support. All mentioned activites and program support refer to the field of mechatronics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computing.
