The aim of this final paper is to show and explain the basic facts and concepts related to value added tax which is caused with the access of Croatia to European Union on 01.07.2013. Regulations related to value added tax had to be aligned with the legal acquis of the European Union. To ensure that the system of value added tax in Croatia works about as well as the "common market of the European Union" specific Directive and the Regulation of the European Union were applied. By accessing to the European Union, system of value added tax has used some new elements. Some of them, such as the acquisition of goods within the European Union, the supply of goods within the European Union, moving goods, distance selling, import of goods, delivery of goods, the transfer of tax liability, the input tax deduction for the acquisition in the European Union, the rules for registration of new tax payers, etc. are explained in this paper. In addition, this paper includes information about fiscalization in the cash trade. Fiscalization is a new system that allows monitoring of the tax payer supply, and also the control and supervision of expressing taxable supplies through the value added tax. Value added tax is one of the most significant state budget revenues collected by the tax payer of its customers, which is then being calculated and sent to the state budget. There is a clear need for appropriate information in order to make the whole process simple and more accurate.
