This paper describes the procedure and criteria for optimizing a curved cantilever bracket. In the first part of the paper, the task is described and defined through sketches and given data as a technical system. Then, the design requirements of the welded cross section and the influence of welding and sheet deformation on the mechanical properties of the final substrate are described. The calculation of the stress components on the selected girder cross section is described. In the second part of the paper, the basic finite element methods are discussed. As a numerical part of the task, the curved central surface carrier, loaded with a constant load, was optimized using the computer program Autodesk Simulation. The connection to the environment is a connection via plates and screws for a rigid environment, the substrate. Load acceptance is provided at the free end of the girder via plates with a circular opening for receiving a hook or similar connecting element. Calculations of welded joints with criteria of minimum consumption of additional material (minimum welded joints) are also envisaged. The construction is shown in the form of an assembly drawing. The task was prepared in accordance with the Ordinance on the final work of the Polytechnic of Karlovac.
