Asbestos is an excellent example of neglecting the consequences and covering-up the problems of man's way to profit. This paper explains the problem of asbestos in the inhalation of its fibers. It is also about the emergence of the first asbestos industry, the peak of its use, and a complete ban on production and its use. The paper describes the division of the most frequently used asbestos minerals as well as their physical and chemical properties. The impact of asbestos on human health and the environment is elaborated, as well as illnesses such as asbestosis, mesothelioma, thickening of the pleura and so on. As an example of life scenarios, in order to best observe human apathy and ignorance for others, was taken affair of the Salonit d.d. in Vranjic. The laws, regulations and ordinances related to the protection of human health, the right to compensation and the manipulation of asbestos materials are explained more closely. At the end of this paper, are given examples of waste management containing asbestos, as well as a look into the future in type of a new way of remediation of asbestos waste by plasma gasification.
