Abstract
U ovom završnom radu provedeno je istraživanje populacije malog vodenjaka u krškim lokvama na južnom dijelu otoka Krka. Terensko istraživanje je izvršeno u razdoblju od svibnja 2017. do kolovoza 2018.g. na tri lokve (Skala, Kaljužina i Nova Lokva 3) u kojima je potvrđena prisutnost vodenjaka te dvije (Kimpi i Misučajnica) u kojima je vodenjak bio prisutan u prošlosti. Predmet istraživanja je bila prisutnost, brojnost, biometrijske karakteristike i stanje populacije malog vodenjaka (Lissotriton vulgaris) kao posljednje otočke populacije malog vodenjaka u Hrvatskoj. Provedenim istraživanjem na svih 5 odabranih lokacija utvrđeno je da u lokvama u kojima su pronađeni vodenjaci nema gambuzija ni ostalih invazivnih vrsta, a u lokvama u koje su iste unesene nema vodenjaka i znatno je manji broj žaba i kukaca. Kako su sve istraživane lokve po ostalim karakteristikama slične može se zaključiti da je glavni uzrok ugroženosti i nestajanja vodenjaka i ostalih vodozemaca u ovim lokvama unos predatora u njih.
Abstract (english)
For the purpose of this thesis, a study was conducted on the smooth newt population in the karst ponds in the southern part of the island of Krk. Field research was carried out in the period from May 2017 to August 2018 on three ponds (Skala, Kaljužina and Nova Lokva 3), which confirmed the presence of newts and two ponds (Kimpi and Misučajnica) in which the newt was present in the past. The goal of the study was to determine the presence, abundance, biometric characteristics and status of the smooth newt (Lissotriton vulgaris) population as the last island population in Croatia. The research carried out on all 5 selected locations found that there are no mosquitofish or other invasive species found in the ponds where there is a stable population of smooth newt, and there are no newts in the ponds in which they were introduced into, and there are considerably fewer frogs and insects. As all studied ponds are similar in other characteristics, it can be concluded that the main cause of threat and disappearance of newts and other amphibians in these ponds is the introduction of non-native predators.
