Over the past century, the increased use of fossil fuels, industrial production and increased Earth activity (more active volcanoes, more intense methane emissions from the ocean, etc.) has led to a significant increase in the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere, leading to global warming and consequently to climate change. To prevent global warming it is necessery to reduce CO2 emissions, one way to do this is by using negative emission technologies. This paper provides an overview for two types of devices for collecting CO2 from the atmosphere that belong to negative emission technologies. The theoretical part of the paper presents atmospheric levels of CO2 concentration throughout history, how they affected the average global temperature, and possible projections of global warming in the coming period. The paper also describes two types of devices for collecting CO2 from the atmosphere, collection costs, analysis of the efficiency of individual devices and comparison of costs of different types of technology, with the aim of finding the most optimal methods with the lowest possible costs.
