The paper has been presented the results of the microbiological analysis of drinking water that had been sampled in Jastrebarsko city and surrounding area. Total of 30 samples were analyzed. A town waterworks is mostly used as a source of such water, but wells and hydrophore systems are also in use. Microbiological parameters that were analyzed in drinking water samples are: the number of bacterial colonies at 22 and 37 °C, total coliforms, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and faecal streptococci. The assessment of microbiological analysis of water was made in accordance to “Regulation on Conformity Parametres and Methods for the analysis of Water for Human Consumption” (Official Gazette 125/13) and Amandements on the Regulation on a conformity parameters and methods for human consumption water analysis” (Official Gazette 141/13). The total number of bacteria in 1mL samples, that where grown at 22 °C and 37 °C, has increased in 2 samples of well water, in 2 samples of water from the hydrophore systems, and 2 samples of water from town waterworks. Total coliforms bacterium were found in 5 samples of well water, 2 samples of water from the hydrophore systems and 4 samples of water from town waterworks. The bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found in 5 samples of well water, in 4 samples of water from the hydrophore systems and 4 samples of water from waterworks. The faecal streptococci were not found in any analyzed water sample. A high percentage of defective water samples indicate the need for monitoring the microbiological quality of water due to a secure supply of population with drinking water.
